Pioneering technology in the past

SOLO Lawnmowers - 1949 In 1949, SOLO was the first to bring a lawnmower with a rotating blade to the German market (depicted at the left). The rotating blade delivered a far more effective cut and allowed faster mowing.

This lawnmower, with its powerful 3.5 HP engine, and for that time a "gigantic" cutting width of 50 cm (20 inches), revolutionized mowing in Germany.

Pioneering technology - today
The technological commonality of the SOLO gasoline-powered lawnmowers
lies in innovations which speak for themselves:
Sturdy, recyclable housing Powerful, fuel-efficient, lead-free 4-cycle Briggs&Stratton or Honda engines of the latest design with low-effort recoil starters.
Blade Brake
Ergonomically formed handlebar for individual mower operation
(except Model 582)
Variable cutting height adjustment controlled from a centrally located control.
Foldable, space-saving handlebar. Easy to use throttle located on the handlebar with clearly marked "economy" throttle setting.
Large volume, elastic grassbag with large opening for easy and complete emptying -
rear access flap with integrated carrying handle
SOLO - Aeromatic Capture System:
The grassbag is always filled completely even when mowing wet grass due to the blower-wheel and its pressure effect.
The high-quality spring steel blade delivers quiet operation and an excellent cutting profile
Mowers can be pushed and manoeuvred easily due to roller or ball wheel bearings. A mulching accessory is available for Models 582/585/583/589 and all Types 546 and 550. Four offset cutting edges on the special mulching blade cut the grass in stages. With the normal discharge chute blocked by a housing insert, all grass clippings are cut very finely and blown back into the lawn to decompose.
